New World: It will burn your video card. Watch out! The Beta can destroy up to an RTX 3090

You didn't read it wrong. Beta New World, Amazon's MMORPG game, which entered beta testing this Tuesday afternoon, has simply, without any explanation, destroyed the GPU of those who run it on a machine with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090.

Reports from several users who have tried to play the game claim that Beta New World has disabled their video card for unknown reasons.

Several users of Reddit, all GeForce RTX 3090 owners, have reported that the recently released closed beta New World not only fails on their video cards, it blocks the component entirely.

Beta New World May Destroy Your NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090

According to the full report from Windows Central, users who tried to run the Beta New World game in a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 ended up with a blocked video card. Some users managed to get a good look at the vast world of Amazon's MMORPG, only to have a broken video card 15-20 minutes later.

The problem only occurs with the video card. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090, which is not only the fastest video card from NVIDIA, but also the most expensive one, which is currently coming out at the lowest price of R$14.999,00 (laughs).

Users on New World official forum reported the same issue: GeForce RTX 3090 GPUs completely frying, even after a short time playing the beta. Gladd, a Twitch streamer with more than 438.000 followers, tweeted that his graphics card met the same fate.

After much discussion among users on the aforementioned forums, apparently the problem seems to be that New World is causing video cards to work far beyond their power limit, which should be activating panic mode - turning off emergency that the plates make when overheated. However, for some reason, this feature is not working in New World, which causes the board to overheat beyond repair.

However, Amazon has already issued a statement and limited the Beta New World frame rate in Menus, which should prevent these issues. Here is the statement:

"Hundreds of thousands of people played in New World Closed Beta yesterday, with millions of total hours played. We have received some reports from players using high performance graphics cards with hardware failure when playing New World.

New World makes standard DirectX calls as provided by the Windows API. We didn't see any indication of widespread issues with the 3090, either in beta or during our many months of alpha testing.

New World Closed Beta is safe to play. To further reassure gamers, we will implement a patch today that limits frames per second on our menu screen. We are grateful for the support New World is receiving from players around the world and will continue to hear your feedback throughout the Beta and beyond.”

If you have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090, be very careful! We recommend not playing Beta New World until everything is clearly cleared up, at the risk of losing your expensive video card.
