When the Xbox Series X is released in 12 November , it will host at least one chilling psychological horror experience: The Medium, a third-person horror game with dual reality gameplay. The game comes from developer Bloober Team, the creators of Blair Witch, Layers of Fear and Observer, and is available for pre-order now, so you're ready to play it on the first day.
In the game, you play as a medium named Marianne, who lives in two worlds - the human world and the spiritual world. After having visions of the murder of a young woman, Marianne travels to an abandoned hotel in search of the truth about what happened there years ago. As a medium, you will experience the game from two different perspectives and explore the physical and spiritual world simultaneously, with both displayed on the screen.
Marianne's movement through both worlds is controlled by a single analog button, but you'll have to interact with the two environments in different ways and solve puzzles to explore different paths. Marianne has different abilities in the spirit world, including an Out of Body call. The trailer also shows her using some kind of shield of light in the spiritual realm to protect herself.

Pre-order bonuses have only been announced for Steam at this time. On Steam, The Medium's pre-order bonuses include the game's original soundtrack, which features a “double” soundtrack by composer Akira Yamaoka, known for composing several Silent Hill games, and Arkadiusz Reikowski from the Bloober Team. You will also receive a digital artbook for The Medium. It is not clear whether pre-order bonuses exclusive to the Xbox Series X will be announced at a later date.
