MiHoYo gets negative reviews from Genshin Impact's Birthday

Players are unhappy with the rewards given to players for the one-year anniversary of Genshin Impact

2nd Update 29/09:

Apparently the negative reviews and reviews gave some results to the players. miHoYo has started sending players thank you emails for their time in the game with 400 primes and a brand new Glider. There will be 4 emails with 400 gems, which would total 1600 primes, enough to fulfill 10 wishes, which gives the guarantee of getting a character or weapon with 4 or 5 stars.

Each individual wish has a chance to give the player a 3-star (94,3%), 4-star (5,1%), or 5-star (0,6%) item or character, but every 10 consecutive wishes is guaranteed. that you will receive a 4 or 5 star character/item. So, in theory, players got the free character they were claiming.

1nd Update 29/09:

To stem the wave of criticism and complaints from players, miHoYo is banning and censoring mentions and complaints regarding Genshin Impact's Birthday. On Reddit, for example, the company blocked the game's subtopic and all types of posts had to be approved by a moderator before being published. On Discord, anyone who complains about birthday presents will be banned for toxicity. And, within the game itself, players are prohibited from changing their signatures. On Google's Play Store, players are accusing the company of deleting negative reviews. See the actions being taken to contain the game's negation:

Original story:

miHoYo got a not-so-good gift on this first anniversary of Genshin Impact. The gacha-style game was released on 28/09/2020 and was an immediate success. He had millions of downloads in its early days, character releases like Raiden Shogun, Ganuy, Zhongli and Hu Tao gave the company millions in revenue from players who spent to have the characters on their teams.

However, some think that the company is not being fair with the qualities and amounts of rewards given to players in return for all this success. As the Chinese company has strict control over what is posted on its social networks and Reddit forums and other media, players flocked to bombard the company with negative reviews and lower the game's rating on the main platforms where it is available, like the Google PlayStoree and Sony's PlayStation Store, as well as several critical videos on Youtube and thousands of Twitter mentions.

What did they get for Genshin Impact's Birthday?

The main criticisms of the community regarding birthday gifts are focused on the fact that the best prizes are in cultural contests that the company held outside the game, such as illustration contests, cosplay, creativity and even for players to create an advertising that it would be stamped on buses traveling in miHoYo's home country. Prizes range from a few thousand moras (the game's currency) to a few primes (item used in the gacha to get the best characters and weapons), plus iPhone Max 13.

Awards that would be great if everyone in the community was an artist and had enough time, resources and even talent to make artworks that could clash with other big name internet illustrators who are known for making amazing fan art. Which is not the case. Just under 10% of players in the community benefit from this type of prize.

Players ask the company to be more respectful and give away prizes that are truly relevant to players, such as a non-limited 5-star tier character for free. There are currently 5 characters in this category, namely: Qiqi, Keqing, Jean, Mona and Diluc.

Players are also being given rewards for daily login, which include as a mora gift, some Intertwined Fate (item that can be used to make wishes on character banners) and some weapon and character upgrade items. Things that, until some time ago, were given to players relatively often. In addition, the company has also launched a special website that showcases players' achievements over the past year and rewards players for watching animated videos shared by players.

So far, the company has not commented on these negative reviews and criticism from players.
