PlayStation today announced the arrival of God of War for PC. Santa Monica's game will be released to the platform on January 14, 2022, with uncut cinematic camera as it tracks Kratos and Atreus across the realms, true 4K resolution option on devices that support unlimited frames per second.
The game will also feature several other new features on the PC, such as the option to configure the visual experience based on the equipment; full integration with NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), so the player doesn't have to sacrifice advanced graphics settings for good performance; low-latency NVIDIA Reflex technology, which allows for a more responsive experience; and support for 21:9 ultra-widescreen displays.
Furthermore, it was also disclosed that the PS4 version of the game recorded in August the mark of 19,5 million copies sold worldwide, confirming the title's role as one of the biggest successes of PlayStation Studios.
God of War for PC will be an ambitious project
According to PlayStation Blog, "Our main objective in bringing God of War to the PC is to highlight the exceptional content that the team has created, and to take advantage of the powerful hardware that the platform offers to create an incredible, beautiful and high-performance version of the game.
You'll be able to enjoy the full potential of our uncut cinematic camera as it follows Kratos and Atreus across the realms, with the option of true 4K resolution, on 4K-capable devices, plus unlimited frames per second.”
The PC version includes several graphics options so you can configure your visual experience based on your equipment. From high-resolution shadows and enhanced screen space and reflections to ambient occlusion with GTAO and SSDO – God of War on PC can achieve a visual quality unique to the platform.
“We are also happy to announce that we will have full integration with NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) available on RTX™! You won't have to sacrifice advanced graphics settings and resolution output to perform well in God of War.
In addition to DLSS we will also have low latency NVIDIA Reflex technology available. Reflex technology allows for a more responsive experience, so you can react faster and create better combos.”
In addition to graphics and performance improvements, the release will include support for 21:9 ultra-widescreen!
"From blood-boiling struggles to quieter moments where you can enjoy the unearthly beauty of the Nine Realms of Norse mythology, our widescreen support will make every moment seem even more like a true cinematic experience.”
Plans for God of War on PC include support for controls, and customization to map the keyboard. For those who prefer to play with a controller, it will have support for Dualshock 4 and DualSense wireless controllers, in addition to many other controllers. As for players who use mouse and keyboard, it will be possible to completely customize the commands to create a control scheme that works as the player wants.
