After a five-year wait, Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind the Batman: Arkham trilogy, announced that their next project is a Suicide Squad game. However, there is no way to know what the game will be like and if it will look like Batman during the next few weeks, as this information is being kept confidential.
Instead of opting for any fanfare, the studio simply tweeted the reveal with an image of Superman, which could be a little bizarre. And a Suicide Squad logo. Of course, we'll know more when the DC FanDome starts at 14pm on Saturday, August 22.
The one-day virtual event is scheduled to show what DC is planning to come in the future, including Batman. The cut of Zack Synder in the Justice League, the Suicide Squad with Rocksteady on the supervillain team, Ed Boon, director of Mortal Kombat and Injustice, will also be present at the event.
Suicide Squad game
The revelation of a Suicide Squad game is not as surprising as it might have been after a recent report suggested that Rocksteady was working on such a project. A cache of registered domain names also suggested the game's full title and indicated its central idea, with a so-called “Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League”.
The image that Rocksteady shared can also add some relationship to the report. The Suicide Squad logo appears to be intended to be a crosshair aimed at Superman's head, which would fit if the game was really about killing the Justice League.
What do you think this new Suicide Squad game will look like? We hope it will be as good as the Batman Arkham trilogy and not as disappointing as the movie. It would be interesting to see quality content from the group of villains.
