The renowned Times magazine names Jensen Huang one of the 100 most influential people in the world, along with big names like Tim Cook, Joe Biden and Tom Brady
NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang was named today on TIME Magazine's annual list of the World's 100 Most Influential People. Huang will be on the cover of TIME's print publication – one of seven people on the list to receive a cover – which will hit newsstands on September 17th.
The 2021 TIME 100 list includes political leaders like Joe Biden and Mario Draghi; creative figures like Scarlett Johansson and Steven Yuen; and sports icons such as Simone Biles and Tom Brady. The only tech business personalities on the list, apart from Huang, are Tim Cook and Elon Musk. The magazine cites Huang as "one of the most technically savvy CEOs in the world" and "an ardent protector of his employees and an advocate of science and technology education."
Huang founded NVIDIA in 1993 and has served since its inception as president, chief executive officer and member of the board of directors. Your full biography is here.
Times nominates Jensen Huang for his work with AI
“Artificial intelligence is transforming our world. The software that allows computers to do things that previously required human perception and judgment depends largely on the hardware made possible by Jensen Huang.
In 2003, amid widespread skepticism, Huang directed his Nvidia company to adapt chips designed to paint graphics on computer screens, known as graphics processing units or GPUs, to perform other general-purpose computing tasks. The resulting advances—and powerful chips—established a foundation that could accommodate much larger neural networks, the programs behind much of today's AI. In the process, he helped enable a revolution that lets phones answer questions aloud, farms spray weeds but not crops, doctors predict the properties of new drugs – with more wonders to come.
Huang's gamble paid off because he is among the most technically experienced CEOs in the world. He is also a compassionate steward of his employees and a generous supporter of science and technology education. With still-emerging AI technologies creating an insatiable hunger for more computing, Huang's team is well positioned to continue driving technological advances for decades to come."
