Ubisoft takes VR tour of Notre-Dame Cathedral

Firstly, last weekend - September 21st and 22nd -, visitors to the European Heritage Days, an event that celebrates and values European culture and heritage, had an unprecedented experience: they were the first to use virtual reality to take a tour by Notre-Dame Cathedral.

The experiment took place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, and was developed based on the version of Notre-Dame created by Ubisoft in 2014 for the game Assassin's Creed: Unity, as the game takes place in Paris during the French Revolution.

During the virtual tour, visitors were able to discover or rediscover ten environments of the historic cathedral, such as the nave, transept and the choir area, and admire it from angles not normally accessible, such as from above Notre-Dame or flying over a balloon.

“For the past 30 years, Ubisoft has created immersive worlds so that players can have fun or, in the case of the Assassin's Creed series, discover and appreciate a part of the world's cultural heritage” Said Ubisoft vice president of business Deborah Papiernik.

"We are proud to showcase the excellent work our teams have done on Assassin's Creed: Unity and to allow the public to visit the cathedral thanks to virtual reality."
