Horizon Forbidden West, the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, earned its release date during PlayStation's presentation at Gamescom
It's been a few months since we shared Horizon Forbidden West's first gameplay experience during the State of Play, in which we've given a glimpse of where Aloy's journey might take her and introduced exciting new elements like swimming, free climbing, hand-to-hand combat. expanded body and more.
At that point, Horizon Forbidden West had just hit a major milestone, and we entered the final stage of development. As planned, but a little uncertain if we would be able to refine the game to the level of quality we aspire to.
As expected, our teams were heavily affected by the pandemic. We've been adapting to new workflows, protocols and other challenges while keeping teams safe with a priority on a healthy work/life balance.
When the Zero Dawn Horizon Sequence arrives
Today we are happy to confirm the release of our sequel to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in February 18rd, 2022. Digital pre-sale starts at September 2th, 2021, so keep an eye out for the news this week.
While it was not an easy decision to postpone the launch to 2022, we would like to take the time to thank all the fans for their support. We know how long you've been waiting to reunite with Aloy and her friends, continue her story and explore a new and more dangerous world. Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography and your videos mean a lot to all of us.
We know that our community has been requesting a performance-enhancing patch for Horizon Zero Dawn on PlayStation 5. The patch is finally available, allowing the game to run at 60fps on PS5 in a free update! If you already have a copy, it will be updated automatically. Or, if you are new to the world of Horizon, you can find it on Horizon Zero Dawn purchase page.
We'll have more information in the coming months and we can't wait to see you soon in the Forbidden West…
