Best Defender Builds in Pokémon Unite

Stay in the way and don't let anyone through, either defending or hitting. Defenders in Pokémon Unite are an essential role in the game. Will you face it?

The best defense is offense? These defender builds in Pokémon Unite will show your enemies that the best defense is an impassable barrier or a multi-ton monster with a lot of HP in the path they are trying to go. The defending Pokemon are there to hold the opposing team's advance while your team goes forward and seeks victory. Just like the Support Pokémon, you may not be the star of the team, but your role is vital to your group's victory.

They aren't dealing incredible damage machines like the attackers, but they hold back those blows and ask for more. Playing well as a forward can be fun, but a group without a good defense will not be able to stop opponents from scoring points. So, keeping these Pokemons around will make things more complicated for enemies. What a defending Pokémon needs to be effective in its role is a high defense or a lot of HP, or both.

Become a Stronghold with these Defender Builds in Pokémon Unite

Defenders are literally a big “punching bag” for your team, although they prefer to be called “tanks”. With high HP and high defense, your main objective is to stop and keep enemies out of the goal while your teammates do some knockouts or score goals. You probably won't have the highest rating when it comes to end-of-game knockouts, but if you play correctly, you should have plenty of big assists.

Slowbro (Special Ranged Attacks)

With ranged attacks, Slowbro is one of the most interesting defenders currently in Pokémon Unite. While it's not inherently as efficient a tank as its counterparts in this category, some unique abilities open up some amazing possibilities for your teammates.

Best Build

MovementsSurf (Level 4): Slowbro advances in a series of waves dealing damage. At lower levels, only the first wave knocks enemies down, but at level 11, all three waves knock back opposing Pokémon.
Amnesia (Lv 6): Increases Slowbro's defense and increases Scald or Surf damage on next use.
retained itemsAeos Cookie: Pokémon that hold Aeos Cookie will have their Maximum Health increased when they successfully score points.
Rocky Helmet: This item increases the Pokémon's HP and Defense, while returning damage to enemies that attack the user.
Bell Shell: Increases Attack Sp, decreases cooldowns and the Pokemon that holds the Shell Bell will recover HP whenever it hits an Ability.
battle itemEject Button: An excellent tool for running away from overwhelming encounters or chasing down fleeing enemies.
PathTop: Walk along with a good attacker on the way up.

Snorlax (physical melee attacks)

Snorlax is everything you could want in a Defender: tons of HP, potential for incredibly high defense, and annoying health regeneration. Snorlax can, and will, take a beating like no one else. Put that big body on a path and assert your dominance. There won't be a pokeflute to get you out of there!

Get Ready For Pokémon Unite Battles

Pokémon Unite is an online multiplayer battle arena game, or MOBA, with battles between two teams of five players. The game map is divided into two parts, with several points that must be controlled by the players. Players score points for their team by defeating “wild” Pokémon that appear across the field, capturing them and heading towards one of the opposing team's “goals” to score points. Each match is limited to 10 minutes and the team with the highest total score at the end of each match wins the match.

Players start each game controlling low-level base Pokémon that can level up and learn new combat moves as they win battles and evolve. They are divided into five types of “classes”: Attackers, Defenders, Supports, Versatiles and Speedsters. The game includes a unique “Unite move” mechanic for each Pokémon character. Pokémon Unite is available for Nintendo Switch, Android e iOS.
