Forza Horizon 5 tips and tricks to do well
DON'T FORGET TO UPGRADE
To start with the best tip for your vehicle's performance is to upgrade it as there are many possibilities with any vehicle and its potential use. Want to turn a Reliant Supervan into a drag racing monster? Easy. Throw a bunch of upgrades on it and watch it go up to 200 mph on the main Drag Strip Festival. Want to try something different for drift zones? It's not a problem. Jump into BAC Mono, put on a set of drift melodies and slide down to 3 stars.
If you don't like fiddling with settings, preset tunes are readily available and take seconds to apply. From the start menu, go to the Cars tab, select 'Adjust Car', select 'Configuration Manager' in the lower left corner and then 'Load Configuration'. You will see a bunch of recommendations with a description of the configuration type in the upper left corner. There's also the ability to search for music, filtering to find a setting that's perfect for your needs.
Since we're talking about upgrades, it's also a good idea to create a class car catalog for Horizon Open racing. They require a class limit with their own specific types, for example a cross-country race with Class A vehicles. Make sure you have specific cars for roads and dirt within each range from S2-998 to C-600 otherwise you'll be stuck with a standard swamp Ford Focus in the low 700s.
First things first, which car to choose. Some favorites seem to be the Toyota Supra, Caterham R500 or any Formula Drift car, but there are many different vehicles available for drifting. Remember that BAC Mono drift car we mentioned before? Yes, this car really is capable of 3 stars in all drift zones with our drift setup.
After choosing your car, let's tweak a few things in the assists, which can be found in the settings menu and then in the difficulty tab. Turn off traction and stability control and switch to manual. This will allow you to turn the car around corners, but it takes a little practice to keep you on the road. With some familiarity and rehearsal, you should be able to handle it reasonably well around corners.
There's a lot to teach when it comes to drifting, but let's keep it short and digestible for you. An easy method is to keep the car in low gear, keep the speed at a manageable pace, and use the electronic brake. Try to balance the throttle and pay attention to the steering. Accelerate too much and the car will skid or go off the road, but too little and it won't slide.
If you're struggling to get through an area, a good place to practice is at the Los Jardines roundabout. Try to go around the roundabout while choosing a lane to stay inside. Remember that drifting takes a lot of time and practice to be perfect. Keep trying, and those 3 stars will naturally fall into your lap.
USE THE BACKWARD FEATURE FOR STROMS AND BOARDS
Anyone who had the brilliant idea of putting a bonus sign on an electric pole deserves a serious talk. However, I think it's a fun challenge to face, good for you man. While trying to demolish all the boards and RP stunts is a feat in itself, it's much easier with the rewind feature.
Fortunately, the game doesn't punish you for using this, so feel free to use it as much as you like. It's very useful when trying ridiculous challenges like breaking the pestle plate, as no one can do that on the first try. Line up the jump and try to land on it. If unsuccessful, hit the rewind button and adjust your speed and direction, if necessary, until you do.
Since we're talking about bonus boards, here's a quick and cool tip on how to research them all. All game boards play music, so stay tuned while on the go. If you find a painting that is out of sight, turn off the radio and follow the music. It stops the moment you destroy the board.
Rewinding can also be especially useful for public relations stunts. If takeoff was disrupted by a danger sign, back off and adjust the direction. Hit a tree in a Trailblazer? Rewind. Turned a turn too fast in a Speed Zone or Drift Zone? Rewind. Keep trying until everything has been accomplished, there is no limit to how many you are allowed to do.
INVEST IN PROPERTIES TO UNLOCK ADVANTAGES
As with the previous festival, you can unlock additional house perks. They should not be overlooked as they can be very useful for your trip. One of these bonuses is given to you for free at the start of the game at Casa Bella Villa, which unlocks the availability of Skill Songs, which provide a two point boost to your skill score.
Other houses that have bonuses include La Casa Solariega, which unlocks double Forzathon points earnings, Hotel Castillo which unlocks a daily spinning wheel for free, and Buenas Vistas which unlocks the use of fast travel. The latter is incredibly useful, meaning you are able to teleport to any road on the map and it's price reduced depending on how many fast travel boards you've destroyed.
HORIZON FAST PROMOTION CATCHES
Another property with a useful advantage is Lugar Tranquilo, which opens the Horizon Promo. This advantage involves taking pictures of all the different cars within the festival, which can be used to unlock rewards. Just open photo mode, take a photo of a car and you will receive a reward.
If you come across a car that you haven't taken a picture of yet, a handy camera icon on the nameplate will appear and disappear once the picture is taken. It will be harder to find new cars to capture, but luckily there is an easy way to get lots of different cars quickly.
Simply jump into a race with a certain car and class, and the field must be varied with different cars. Start the race, enter photo mode and take a photo. So, leave this event and start a new race with a different car. You should be able to fill that photo album in a snap.
SKILL SCORING AGRICULTURE
Each vehicle in the game has a car domain attached to it, which contains different rewards and bonuses. They can unlock free casters, XP unlocks and also others that help to gain skill score.
A good place to cultivate this resource is to choose an open area full of breakable objects. Any area will do, but we like to choose the area around the base of the volcano, Resting Dorado. This place contains some big rocks, but it contains a lot of cacti, trees and landscapes to decimate. Final debris, skids, and air are all useful for stringing together a massive skill score, but be sure to store them regularly just in case of an accidental collision.
If you haven't unlocked the prize called “Skill Champ”, which requires a 1,5 million skill chain, now is the best time to give it a try.
USE DRONE MODE TO FIND BARN
Plain and simple, this tip speaks for itself. Searching for the secret cars – also known as Barn Finds – can be tricky and tedious if you can't locate them in the purple area, but luckily the drone camera is here to help. It is located in the start menu, creative hub tab and then “drone mode” in the lower right corner.
Using the drone can help you locate a barn without climbing obstacles or getting stuck in the scenery, but it doesn't seem to go annoyingly high. Once located, go to the barn and unlock your new vehicle. Fast and easy.
DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE ACCOLADE REWARDS
The focus for every superstar at this new festival is the Hall of Fame. How do you get to the top? Well, unlocking compliments, of course. This requires specific tasks to complete, such as completing all story missions, unlocking all festivals, or even buying a car from the auction house. What you may not have noticed on your journey is that there are loads of rewards to be gained from these compliments.
They appear in-game when unlocked, but tend to disappear quickly if you're not paying attention. However, you can find out which rewards you've unlocked by going to the Start menu and selecting compliments on the right-hand side. If you have a reward available to collect, it should appear in the upper right corner of a box and also show a glowing animation if it can be unlocked.
You will have to select each individual reward to unlock these rewards. So if you're from Playground Games and you're reading this article, would you be so kind as to add a “Collect All Rewards” button to the cheers screen? It would be very helpful!
Another quick tip about compliments, if you pin a task and it specifically points to a certain event, it will add a route to your map, leaving out the tedious task of manually searching for it on the map. A very useful and quick way to find where you need to go.
For those of you who are VIP members, there are some things available to you that you might not have noticed.
First, the car voucher. This allows you to buy any car on Autoshow for free, one time. If there's a specific car you'd like to own, you can use it in it, or you can choose the most expensive item on the market, which is the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, available on a small loan of 30 million credits. Using the voucher on this vehicle also unlocks a lot of car-buying accolades and, if you really want to, you can even sell it at the auction house for a significant amount of credits.
Second, there are two free houses available for VIP members, Lugar Tranquilo and La Casa Solariega, each containing an advantage we mentioned earlier. One of these homes may have a price tag, which can change to "Free" as soon as you visit.
DIVERSIFY YOUR INTERESTS, TRY IT ALL
There are an impressive amount of things to participate in during your stay at the festival, so it's very important to try a lot of things. This is basically just another way of saying “have fun”, but we really mean it. You can waste hours blowing up everything, so it's very important to try everything at least once.
Try tinkering with melodies if you haven't already, go for bonus boards on your way to the next race, try cross-country racing if you're a road racer, jump into the Horizon Arcade while trying for a Danger Sign, The list goes on .
With a gigantic map, gigantic opportunities arise and the festival is sleepless. Do what you want, when you want, because this stay will be memorable.

More about Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 is an electronic racing game developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios. It is the fifth game in the Forza Horizon series and the twelfth major title in the Forza franchise. The game takes place in a fictional representation of Mexico. It was released on November 9, 2021 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Forza Horizon 5 is an electronic racing game set in an open world environment based in Mexico. The game has the largest map in the entire Forza Horizon series, being 50% larger than Forza Horizon 4, as well as having the highest point in the Horizon series. The map has been described by creative director Mike Brown as one of the most diverse maps in the Forza Horizon series the team has ever built.
The map contains areas such as an active caldera volcano, jungles and beaches, ancient Mayan temples and cities like Guanajuato. Players can freely explore the open world, although they can also compete in multiplayer races and complete the campaign mode. Both the cars featured in the game and the player character can be extensively customized. The game is the first in the franchise to support ray tracing on cars (although this is only available in ForzaVista).
