Meet Illuvium – A Triple A Game to Win Bitcoins

Do you want to enter the world of cryptocurrency games, but don't just want to keep clicking on the screen for clicking? Want a real game? So, meet Illuvium and see if this game is for you

Blockchain games are nothing new. In fact, there are hundreds of them available, many of which have achieved great success – with names like CryptoKitties, My Crypto Heroes, Axie Infinity and others having successfully attracted a sizable player base. But so far, we haven't seen a game that could be considered a true AAA title with broad appeal and focused on cryptocurrency gain.

Of course, the main function of a game like this is to increase your income and come up with a new way of making money, but if you're going to do that in a game, it would be good if the game was at least fun. However, with Illuvium, this may no longer be the case. The game, a blockchain-based RPG, has a Triple A feel and still offers an experience capable of entertaining the player as he battles for his assets.

If you want a game that you can actually play that is no more than just collecting the cryptocurrencies, Illuvium might be a good option for you. After all, if it's not for fun too, it's easier to leave the computer mining cryptocurrencies alone.

Meet Illuvium and its World

Illuvium is an open world fantasy battle game built on the blockchain Ethereum. Often heralded as the first AAA game on Ethereum, Illuvium promises to provide a source of entertainment for casual gamers and DeFi fans (a term used to describe the variety of tools and financial products created on the blockchain. Some of the more popular types include decentralized exchanges, productive farms and stable coins) hardcore through a variety of collection and trading features.

The world of Illuvium is inhabited by creatures known as Illuvials, which can be captured by players who surpass them in battle and treat and train them to become even stronger. Thereafter, they become a loyal part of the player's collection and can be used when fighting other adventurers as part of Illuvium's automatic battle game.

The game is a fusion between an open world exploration game and a PVP battle game in the style of Pokémon or Axie Infinity itself. Players can spend their time exploring the expanses of the game world or building their team of mighty beasts.

Illuvium has been in development since 2020 and is being built by a worldwide team of more than 40 people, including the co-founders; serial entrepreneur and cryptocurrency adoption pioneer Kieran Warwick; and seasoned game designer Aaron Warwick, who are brothers. (And who coincidentally are also the brothers of Kain Warwick, the co-founder of the DeFi Synthetix platform).

The ILV token has many uses in the Illuvium ecosystem. It is the primary token used to reward players for their in-game achievements, grants players their share of the Illuvium Vault, and is used to participate in game organization through the Illuvium Autonomous Decentralized Organization (DAO).

How does Illuvium work?

Although Illuvium has blockchain-based elements, it is more like a full-featured video game. It's accessed via a downloadable desktop app, but it also has a range of supporting DeFi apps alongside the game – including a yield farm and decentralized exchange.

Players roam the Illuvium landscape fighting Illuvials and other players, taking part in daily quests and challenges, and participating in its world plot (apparently the game even has a story mode!). Along their journey, they collect Illuvials, which have a range of characteristics that make them variable in their rarity, usefulness and powers. These include:

Classes: Empath, Fighter, Guardian, Rogue and Psion.

Affinities: Air, Earth, Fire, Nature and Water.

Through their class and affinity are their most important attributes, each Illuvial has a large number of additional attributes that also help determine their strength in combat, some of which may include: attack damage, attack speed and wildness. Illuvials grow stronger with victory, can be upgraded with in-game items, and can evolve into a special “ascended” form – which benefits from two affinities at the same time.

Each Illuvial is represented by a unique non-fungible token (NFT) and can be traded freely on external trading platforms and on IlluviDEX for no fee (more on this later). They can also be fused into more powerful shapes and come in normal, holographic and 'dark' holographic variants, which are considerably rarer. The game will feature a variety of revenue sources, mainly derived from in-game item purchases, craft components, cosmetics and monster healing. 100% of this revenue is distributed as a reward to those who bet on ILV tokens through an ILV repurchase system.

What makes Illuvium unique?

Unlike most other blockchain games, Illuvium features a fully 3D environment, with over 100 unique Illuvials found scattered across its various regions. Each Illuvial is designed by a team of world-class artists, ensuring it will appeal to gamers accustomed to high-budget retail games. It's not just a ball that mixes an animal's ear, any horn and another's tail. They are really creatures thought and planned to be monsters like in other games.

In addition, it has a number of features that help it stand out from other blockchain-enabled games and AAA titles. These include:

Layer 2 Integration

Although Illuvium is protected by Ethereum, it is based on Immutable X (IMX) – a tier 2 solution designed to help scale applications with NFT functionality. Leveraging the features of Immutable X, Illuvium ensures players can mint and trade their NFTs with zero rate and virtually instant final transaction. Players always keep custody of their assets while using IMX. ‍

In short: this means more security while you trade your money.

The IlluviDEX

Illuvium features an integrated decentralized exchange (DEX) platform aptly named IlluviDEX. This can be used to trade Illuvium assets, including Illuvial NFTs. A 5% fee is deducted from each sale and funneled into the reward pool for ILV players.

Possibility of Farm

A total of 3 million ILV – equivalent to 30% of the maximum supply (10 million) – is allocated to Illuvium's yield farm program. These will be distributed over a three-year period to users contributing liquidity and through various partner reward schemes.

What is SILV?

Illuvium features a unique production farm reward system where all ILV rewards earned through the production farm are locked for a period of one year before they can be withdrawn.

However, stakers have the option to skip the unlock timer by converting their ILV rewards into an in-game only secondary asset known as sILV. By claiming their rewards as sILV, users receive the dollar equivalent of sILV and can spend their rewards upfront to purchase in-game items. SILV cannot be taken out of the game and is not represented by a blockchain-based asset.

Which means that if you want to withdraw your winnings from this type of farm beforehand, you will win an exclusive in-game currency that can only be used within it. It's like any type of currency or gold from traditional games that you only use in-game.

How does Illuvium compare to Axie Infinity?

While both Illuvium and Axie Infinity feature in-game collectible characters that can be fought, traded and evolved, the game world scope around these creatures differs somewhat. Both Illuvium and Axie Infinity feature a strong gamified DeFi element, which means there can be real Ether (ETH) in play during gameplay – as some Illuvials and Axies can make significant sums on the open market.

On the one hand, Illuvium is a 3D RPG with a gradually revealed storyline and a huge, open and exploreable landscape, while Axie Infinity is a quirky and highly popular 2D game that features adorable creatures known as Axies that are a type of Pokémon. These Axies can be created, fought and traded. For now, there is no story mode to speak.

Axies may be profitable, but they're not creative.

Unlike Axie Infinity, which uses a random assortment of assets to produce each individual Axie, Illuvium's Illuvials are totally unique. Each features custom artwork and illustrations to ensure they are distinct and have characteristics related to their properties and regions. The two games clearly have some similarities, but Illuvial is mainly aimed at traditional gamers who may or may not have experience with cryptocurrencies and NFTs, while Axie Infinity would mostly appeal to crypt connoisseurs.

We'll talk more about Illuvian on the site, how to start playing and other information for those who want to join this game. Keep an eye on the website. And in the meantime, read more about criptomoedas and learn how to improve your income with these games.
