Coffee Stain Publishing and Iron Gate Studio have released Hearth & Home, Valheim's first major update that offers loads of new content for the Norse afterlife! Discover a plethora of new materials, recipes, building parts and other mysteries awaiting you in Valheim's first content update, available now! Focusing on improving the foundational building system and survival mechanics of the critically acclaimed hardcore game with a strong co-op component, the Hearth & Home update gives players even more tools to create the home of their dreams and prepare a feast worthy of a Aesir. While many features introduced in Hearth & Home have already been revealed by the development team on Steam and social media, not even Odin has seen some of the new additions with the update, including something dark and mysterious that seems to spread across the plains.
 
Builders and architects are sure to toast the gods, as a number of new wood and stone pieces will be available to players at launch. Whether it's wooden beams and posts decorated with Viking embellishments, a new type of roof and ornaments, or a stone throne for those who rule with an iron fist, Valheim's building system will now offer a wider selection of pieces to spark the imagination. players as they build their settlements.

The new recipes complement the new eating system that gives players more interesting choices, with an also improved health and stamina system that allows them to tweak their Viking diet to suit their playing style.

A new crystal axe, a bone tower shield, an iron buckler and a silver knife have also been added to the Vikings' arsenal, along with tweaking and balancing for bows and axes, which make different styles of play more viable and fun. Changes to shields and blocking mechanics add more depth to combat and will bring even more epic battles to life for Bragi's bards to create their songs!
