Ubisoft has just released the first trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which is somewhat cinematic; where it features the Viking protagonist Evior fighting with his friends against the Saxons.
But apparently we will be able to choose Eivor's gender, just like in Odyssey. For now, Ubisoft has not shown what the female version of Eivor will look like in the trailer; but thanks to the collector's edition of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, we can get a good sense of what it will look like.
The Eivor that is shown in the Collectors Edition, has a haircut and clothes similar to the male version.
The version chosen in Valhalla will have no impact on the game's narrative. Narrative director Darby McDevitt was asked by fans about which version of Eivor is the official one, he said that both versions are canonical, but how they managed to do that will only be revealed when we play. The player can customize aspects of the character, such as hair, beard, tattoos and other things.
The protagonist versions featured in Assassin's Creed Odyssey is you to choose between two brothers, Alexios and Kassandra; but in Valhalla it will be different versions of the same character. As well as having an animal companion, but instead of an eagle, it will be a crow, which will even have skills.
Who will give voice to the male version will be Magnus Bruun, who gave life to the character Cnut in the series The Last Kingdom. The female version won the voice of Danish actress Cecilie Stenspil.
Many Assassin's Creed fans have questioned why there is so much emphasis on the male version, but Ubisoft said that both will be better presented in the coming months.
The game is scheduled for release in late 2020 and that it will be a bridge between the current series and the new generation of consoles.
