The Sims 4 Day Spa Game Pack will be updated for free this week and adds manicures, new traits and more ways to pamper them
The Sims 4 Spa Day DLC, which was released over six years ago in 2015, is getting a free update this week that adds nail designs created by mod maker Ebonix and other new additions. The update, which will be available on September 7, adds a host of new features, including a new trait called “High Maintenance” and the ability for toddler Sims to do yoga and meditation.
There are also new options to take advantage of in manicures, pedicures and face masks, and Sims can earn money teaching “Mindfulness,” says developer Maxis. In addition, Sims can now have the aspirations of being a “Zen Guru”, “Self Care Specialist” or simply seeking “Inner Peace”. This is the first part of a series of promised changes to the game aimed at giving sims more diversity.
Danielle “EbonixSims” Udo is a veteran Sims modder who has made significant contributions to the game's ability to create many different Sims. Ebonix, as well as other modders like Amira “Xmiramira” Virgil, have been credited with adding new skin tones and hairstyles to the black Sims, creating diversity options that were lacking in the original game.
Sims 4 Spa Day Update is just the beginning
The update comes just over a year after The Sims Executive Producer and General Manager Lyndsay Pearson promised that Maxis would do more to improve the game's options for creating multiple Sims and that it would work with members community “to make sure we get this right”. And "that included the addition of at least a hundred new skin tone samples, new makeup options, and in-game hairstyle updates."
“Inclusion is at the heart of The Sims franchise,” Pearson said at the time. “From the beginning, we've intended to allow you to build Sims that look like you or people you know. And we understand that it doesn't seem like we're really delivering on that promise.” Updating the DLC The Sims 4 Day Spa is coming for PC, Mac, Xbox One and PS4, and will be available for free to anyone who already owns the game pack.
